Leighton-isms

I love the way Leighton's little mind works. The way he explains things always brings a smile to my face :)

The other night, we were on our way to Journey to Bethlehem. I commented that there would be real sheep. The boys were able to watch sheep sheared earlier this fall & that evidently came to mind. Leighton said, when we sheared the sheep, they looked kind of like an apple when it's peeled.

Today I purged everything that was stuck to our refrigerator & piled on top...including the inch of dust, yuck. He went to the fridge to get something and had a bizarre look on his face. I asked him what was up. He said, it looks naked...like the sheep.

Snow Fun!

The kids are LOVING this first big snow of the season...and quite frankly, so am I. I had to miss out on all of the fun last year b/c of my state of preggo-ness, so I'm enjoying it this year!

A couple years ago, we started the tradition of snow ice cream for breakfast on the first snow day...so we began our day off with that.

Daddy was home for lunch, so while he stayed inside with Soph, I went out & helped the kiddos sled.

The neighbor's granddaughter & friend showed up after lunch...so the snow play continued with building a snowman & fort.

They have been outside for almost 2 hours now...I'm guessing they will be wanting some hot chocolate before long!

Sibling Moments

In the midst of all the fighting, pulling hair, kicking & not sharing...they do truly love each other. I have proof :)

9 months!

My baby is quickly becoming not so baby!

At 9 months...

You love table food & feeding yourself

You still do not sleep through the night...and sometimes end up in bed with us

Like to stand up in your bed...which might be one of the problems in the middle of the night

Are one of the happiest & smiliest babies we know

Crawling & pulling up to every thing...cruising is just around the corner, eek!

At your appointment today, you were:

28" long - 67th %
16lbs 9oz - 13th % (tapering off in true Gisselbeck/Wertenberger fashion)
Head - 43cm - 24th %

And just so mommy remembers:
Size 3 diapers...2 bottom teeth...almost weaned...can get anywhere in the house...pretty much over stranger danger...and just a delight :)

Show & Tell

Last night, while Brecken was supposed to be going to sleep, he hollers out (for the umpteenth time), "Mom, I have to tell you something."

"What...," I replied...trying to remain calm.

"Guess what I shared for Show & Tell today!" he exclaimed.

Since I completely forgot about S&T & knew we didn't pack anything...I was a little concerned. "What did you share?" I asked.

"My socks! My stinky socks!" he giggled. (these would be the socks he left in his bag from the prior day for P.E.)

I love it that he just rolls with it & doesn't get upset when mommy blows it & forgets what day it is. This is not the first time I forgot show & tell. Thankfully that day, he had a cool camo sweatshirt in his backpack. Lord help me on the day I forget & there is nothing to show in his backpack...I'm not quite sure what he'll decide to share :-)

Favorite Subject

Conversation with Brecken this morning.

Me: Are you still liking school, Boo?
B: Yeah.
Me: What's your favorite thing about school?
B: Recess.
Me: What's your favorite subject?
B: Huh?
Me: Ya know, what's your favorite thing to learn about? Reading? Math?
B: Jesus.

May this always be the truth :)

6!

Last week, I was tucking Brecken in at bedtime & I said, "I better have another hug. I only get to hug my 5 year old for 5 more nights." I then went over to tuck Leighton in & heard Brecken sniffling. When asked what was wrong, his reply was, "How come you will only give me hugs for 5 more nights?" I quickly explained that I would THEN be hugging my 6 year old, not my 5 year old anymore. He sighed with relief & said,"Oh, ok!"

Don't blink...is so true. 6 years have gone by more quickly than I could have ever imagined. Love this big boy!

Eat them up...

Last year, we worked hard at getting the boys to correctly say K-S-U...many times it came out as K-U-S...or just K-U...which, quite honestly, was painful. This year, they have it mastered.

Thankfully, Zoe caught on a little earlier than the boys did...she frequently goes through the house doing her Wildcat cheer.

Strong woman competition...

This...

went to this...in a matter of seconds.

The peanut lifted 75% of her weight...and in true 'Strong Man' form, she just dropped the weight after she 'got' the lift.

It's a good thing mommy is as quick with a catch as she is with the camera...or poor Soph would have had a nice fall.

Zoe's got a gun...

As we were getting ready for bed, I heard one of the boys guns 'firing'...I went to investigate & found Zoe like this...

I asked her what she was doing...

Her reply, "Dere's a moth up dere..."

I feel safe knowing she's going to protect us even from moth invaders...

Breaking News!

This girl officially hit 20lbs last month. Hurrah!

And after a night at home with daddy...this girl decided a bottle isn't too bad! She threw a fit for mom & the bottle...but decided a sippy cup was ok. Score!
